Rashid Khan on the Road to Recovery After Back Surgery

Send Push
Rashid Khan's Comeback Journey

Rashid Khan, the star spinner for Gujarat Titans, believes he is currently performing at about 75 to 80 percent of his full potential. Following a strong performance against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium during the 18th season of the Indian Premier League, he feels he is gradually regaining his form.

After undergoing back surgery post the ODI World Cup 2023, Rashid made his return to competitive cricket in May 2024. However, he has faced challenges in rediscovering his rhythm, managing to take only eight wickets across 11 matches this season.

In the recent match against the formidable Mumbai Indians, Rashid showcased glimpses of his former self, finishing with impressive bowling figures of 1/21 in his four overs.

Reflections on IPL 2025 Performance

Rashid effectively contained Will Jacks, who scored 53 runs, and ultimately dismissed him, leading to a crucial wicket for his team.

"I struggled with my lengths earlier in the tournament, but I focused on hitting the right areas. Recovering from surgery takes time, and I’m slowly getting back to my best, currently at about 75-80 percent. I need to put the surgery behind me," Rashid shared with broadcasters after the first innings.

Praise for Sai Kishore's Bowling

Rashid also commended his fellow spinner, Sai Kishore, for his outstanding performance against the five-time champions. Sai's crucial wickets of Suryakumar Yadav and captain Hardik Pandya were pivotal in thwarting Mumbai's comeback efforts.

"As a spinner, it's essential to hit the right areas. Sai's spell and the two wickets he took were impressive," Rashid remarked.

Thanks to a strong bowling performance, Gujarat Titans managed to restrict Mumbai Indians to a total of 155/8, despite a late surge of 27 runs from Corbin Bosch.
